Can this actually find hidden cameras?
We use the principle of "lens retro-reflection" β camera lenses reflect light back significantly brighter than surrounding objects when lit. This is based on the LAPD paper published at ACM SenSys 2021 by Sriram Sami et al. at the National University of Singapore, with a reported detection rate of 88.9% β far better than off-the-shelf detectors at 62.3%. We've brought the same physics to your browser, using your phone's flashlight instead of a ToF laser. No app needed. Not 100% guaranteed, but every sweep gives you more peace of mind.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. On Android Chrome, the flashlight activates automatically. On iPhone Safari, you'll need to turn on the flashlight manually from the Control Center. Magnetic field detection is currently Android Chrome only.
Will my camera footage be uploaded?
Never. All analysis happens on your device. No data leaves your phone. You can even use it offline.
If nothing is detected, does that mean the room is safe?
Not necessarily. This tool helps guide you through the most common hiding spots, but it's not a substitute for professional equipment. If something feels off, trust your gut and contact the hotel or call local authorities.
Why a website and not an app?
Friction kills safety. When you feel uneasy in a hotel room, you don't want to download an app. Just share a link, open it, and scan β that's the fastest protection.
